Proposal for Conservation of the River Environment in Kushiro Mire
About the proposals
The Committee for Conservation of the River Environment in Kushiro Mire held six committee meetings and sixteen special subcommittee meetings between September 1999 and March 2001. As a result, a proposal was formulated for conservation of the river environment in Kushiro Mire.
Of great value in developing the proposal were newspapers, the opinions of locals given through questionnaires, and the committee, subcommittees, workshops, and symposia. The proposal was passed on to the parties concerned, including five municipalities (one city, three towns, one village), the Hokkaido Government, Ministry of the Environment, and the Hokkaido Development Bureau. In light of the proposal, the parties are expected to implement specific measures for conservation of the mire through further cooperation and with the assistance of residents in the mire basin.
